Baridi Kwa Baridi Women CBO was honored to be among 30 selected organizations from Busia, Siaya, Kisumu and Migori counties that participated in a Community Score Card (CSC) Training on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) under the Children’s Safe Drinking Water Project implemented by CARE International Kenya. The training was held at Cold Springs Hotel in Homa Bay Town.
The training aimed to strengthen the capacity of participating organizations to facilitate inclusive, evidence-driven Community Score Card (CSC) processes within WASH programmes. Participants gained a shared understanding of the CSC methodology and its role in improving accountability, service delivery and community participation.
Throughout the training, participants explored the five phases of the Community Score Card cycle, including planning, implementation, monitoring, interface meetings and learning for continuous improvement. The sessions emphasized practical approaches to engaging communities and service providers in identifying challenges, developing joint action plans and tracking progress toward better WASH services.
We extend our appreciation to CARE International Kenya for organizing this valuable learning opportunity and for investing in the capacity of local organizations to advance sustainable WASH interventions. We look forward to applying the Community Score Card approach in our work to improve accountability, enhance service delivery and contribute to healthier and more resilient communities.
The Community Score Card is a participatory, rights-based and evidence-driven social accountability approach that brings together community members, service providers and local authorities to jointly assess the quality of public services and develop solutions that respond to community needs.
