On December 11th 2024, Our Director, Mimi Maureen had the honor of hosting an event organized by the national state department of gender focusing on critical discussions around women, peace and security in accordance with the Kenya National Action Plan (KNAP II) and United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR1325). The forum provided a platform to deliberate and learn on the roles of women in fostering peace and enhancing community resilience.
Key discussions centered on the vital role of women in conflict resolution and management ;and on the need to have an inclusive approach where the gender department has rolled out a 5th thematic area on male inclusion and engagement. This initiative aims to involve men and boys as allies in promoting peace and security as well as supporting women empowerment. This will see to it that our community has reduced cases of SGBV, increased social cohesion and a society where everyone thrives.
As women champions for peace and security at the grassroots’ level, we continue to advocate for a gender responsive approach to peace and security at all levels.
