Public Participation on the Review of the National Action Plan and Policy on Human Rights (2014)

Baridi Kwa Baridi Women CBO took part in a county-level public Participation organized by the Office of the Attorney General and the Department of Justice on Wednesday, 12th November 2025, at Blue York Hotel, Busia.

The meeting aimed to collect views from stakeholders on the ongoing review of the National Action Plan and Policy on Human Rights (2014). Participants included representatives from government departments, civil society organizations, community-based groups, youth and women leaders.

  • Discussions highlighted key human rights trends and challenges in Busia County, including:
  • Low awareness of rights among community members
  • Gender inequality and youth unemployment
  • Exploitation of children and child domestic work
  • Barriers in accessing justice and social services
  • Environmental and cross-border human rights concerns
  • Weak enforcement of existing policies

Baridi Kwa Baridi Women CBO emphasized the importance of protecting vulnerable groups such as women, youth, children, and persons with disabilities and ensuring that all community members enjoy their rights equally.

As a community-based organization, we continue to advocate for inclusive participation, social justice and accountability in the promotion of human rights within Busia County and beyond.
