Empowering and protecting vulnerable children in domestic work through sustainable solutions.

Project Launch and Stakeholder Engagement
In August 2023, Baridi Kwa Baridi Women CBO and Busia Beyond Crime officially launched the “Not Invisible Anymore-Ending Exploitation of Child Domestic Workers” project, bringing together key stakeholders in Busia County (County Commissioner’s office, Directorate of Children Service, Department of labor, County government, relevant Civil societies organization and Community policing representatives. These stakeholders play a critical role in ensuring the success and sustainability of this project. This milestone event marked the beginning of a unified effort to address child exploitation in Busia County

Areas of Operation
The project targets key regions within Busia County:
Matayos Sub county:Burumba and Bukhayo West ward ,this is due to their proximity to the Busia border , Busia town has been used as a frequent town where children are sourced and being transported to other cities for domestic work.
Samia Sub County: Nana and Nangina ward- Samia Sub County has been classified as an ASAL Sub county hence there is a large population of children being involved in child labor for livelihood.

Holistic Support for Beneficiaries
Psychosocial and Nutritional Support
At Baridi Kwa Baridi Women CBO, we understand that addressing child exploitation requires more than advocacy. We provide tailored psychosocial and nutritional support to meet the unique needs of our beneficiaries:
Our team provides ongoing psychosocial care to help beneficiaries navigate emotional and psychological challenges. This support is crucial in fostering resilience and healing among affected children.
For the Young Mothers we hired nannies in each center to care for their children during training sessions ensuring these mothers can focus on personal development. We also offered Nutritional support through the provision of porridge for both mothers and their children.
For the Older Beneficiaries, we offer tea to promote health and energy.

Building Skills for a Sustainable Future
Training and Apprenticeships
Beneficiaries undergo comprehensive training in tailoring, salon work, and carpentry. After initial training, they are attached to local professionals for mentorship and hands-on experience, sharpening their skills and preparing them for self-sustainability.
