The fight against child labour is guided by the following legal framework:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Employment Act Cap 226 of 2022<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Labour Institutions Act<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Children Act<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Objectives of the Meeting:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reflect on past activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assess the progress in addressing child labour.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chart a way forward and strengthen collaboration among stakeholders<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Current Status:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Busia County currently faces a <strong>child labour prevalence rate of 59%<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Progress has been made in <strong>Matayos<\/strong> and <strong>Teso North<\/strong> sub-counties.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key Achievements:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Progress in establishing of a technical working group and a sub county child labour committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Training of all the relevant stakeholders in child labour in Matayos and Teso North sub-counties under the child labour committee courtesy of <a des Hommes Netherlands in Africa<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Successful cascading of the County Child Labour Committee to the sub-county level in the two sub-counties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Challenges:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>lack of clear and harmonised data , referral pathways and monitoring in regards to child labour.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Difficulties in repatriation and reintegration of Ugandan children found in child labour in Kenya<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lack of similar technical working groups  and sub county forward<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cascade child labour committees to all <strong>sub-counties and wards<\/strong> to ensure local realities are captured.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Include <strong>children with disabilities<\/strong>, especially in cross-border areas, in child labour initiatives.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaborate with sub-county education boards to <strong>trace school dropouts<\/strong> and develop targeted interventions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop and implement <strong>Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)<\/strong> to track progress.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Harmonize <strong>data collection and monitoring<\/strong> methods across all sub-counties.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img
