Since its inception in Busia County, the campaign has leveraged radio and other media platforms to reach caregivers with vital messages on positive parenting. However, many caregivers especially mothers have faced challenges accessing these messages due to their demanding daily routines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recognizing this gap, Baridi Kwa Baridi Women CBO organized a one-day interactive workshop to take these teachings to the grassroots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"574\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/baridiwomen.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/IMG_20250603_153018-1-574x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-366\" srcset=\"https:\/\/baridiwomen.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/IMG_20250603_153018-1-574x1024.jpg 574w, https:\/\/baridiwomen.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/IMG_20250603_153018-1-168x300.jpg 168w, https:\/\/baridiwomen.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/IMG_20250603_153018-1-768x1370.jpg 768w, https:\/\/baridiwomen.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/IMG_20250603_153018-1-861x1536.jpg 861w, https:\/\/baridiwomen.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/IMG_20250603_153018-1-1148x2048.jpg 1148w, https:\/\/baridiwomen.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/IMG_20250603_153018-1-606x1080.jpg 606w, https:\/\/baridiwomen.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/IMG_20250603_153018-1-scaled.jpg 1436w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 574px) 100vw, 574px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A Day of Learning and Connection<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The workshop, held at the <strong>Budokomi Store<\/strong> was chosen for its proximity to Munongo, Esikulu, and Mayenje dispensaries brought together 78 participants, including mothers, fathers, caregivers and children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cWe are here to empower you with knowledge that will transform not just your children\u2019s lives but the entire community,\u201d<\/strong> said Maureene Ayodi, Director of Baridi Kwa Baridi Women CBO, during her opening remarks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"574\" src=\"https:\/\/baridiwomen.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/IMG_20250603_144249-1024x574.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-362\" srcset=\"https:\/\/baridiwomen.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/IMG_20250603_144249-1024x574.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/baridiwomen.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/IMG_20250603_144249-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/baridiwomen.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/IMG_20250603_144249-768x431.jpg 768w, https:\/\/baridiwomen.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/IMG_20250603_144249-1536x861.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/baridiwomen.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/IMG_20250603_144249-2048x1148.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/baridiwomen.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/IMG_20250603_144249-1920x1077.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Five Pillars of Nurturing Care<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants explored the five core pillars of nurturing care:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Good Health<\/strong> \u2013 Emphasizing physical, emotional, and mental well-being for both the caregiver and the child.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Adequate Nutrition<\/strong> \u2013 Teaching the value of balanced diets and exclusive breastfeeding.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Responsive Caregiving<\/strong> \u2013 Guiding caregivers to recognize and address their children\u2019s needs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Safety and Security<\/strong> \u2013 Promoting violence free and safe environments for children.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Early Learning Opportunities<\/strong> \u2013 Encouraging caregivers to expose children to stimulating interactions and environments.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cThe first 1,000 days of a child\u2019s life are the most critical,\u201d<\/strong> explained the facilitator. <strong>\u201cThey shape their development for a lifetime.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To make the concepts relatable, role plays such as feeding toddlers and managing household responsibilities collaboratively were done. Fathers were encouraged to actively participate in child upbringing.
